Full Dentures
Full dentures are removable prosthetic oral appliances that replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Though this technique has been around for many years, modern technological advances have improved their fit and appearance. Dentures can enhance a patient’s appearance, improve their health, and make it easier to speak and eat.
At McOmber Dental, all dentures are fabricated to closely resemble natural-looking teeth, together with pink acrylic that mimics gum tissue. We select tooth shape and color with the patient’s input with over 30 tooth colors to choose from and dozens of shapes and sizes. Dr. McOmber will even request past photos taken of the denture candidate to replicate as closely as possible the esthetics of their lost natural teeth.
We utilize a local denture technician with over 30 years of experience. This assures a quicker turnaround time and flexibility in making as many alterations as may be required by a patient. If added stability is needed, our Board-Certified Periodontist Dr. Kenneth Gluck, DMD, MDS, will consult with the patient about integrating dental implants to hold the denture securely. Implant-retained dentures are increasingly becoming the standard of care in dentistry today.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are removable oral appliances that replace missing teeth when there are other healthy teeth available to act as anchors. They use a custom cast frame and teeth attached to the base. Clasps are utilized to attach the partial denture to the anchor teeth. Dr. McOmber will show all prospective patients samples of partial dentures and explain all of our protocols. Precision partial dentures are an upgraded option where internal attachments are used rather than clasps. This provides both a better cosmetic appearance and added stability.
Precision Partial Dentures are cosmetically superior and, at times, not even detectable. Internal attachments are utilized inside dental crowns with corresponding attachments in the partial denture. Plastic housings can even be placed in the partial denture that are available in different levels of retention (tightness). This assures a custom solution for patients who prefer a tighter fit.
Approved by the Patient
Our dentures and partials are approved by the patient before being completely fabricated and inserted in the mouth. In essence, this means that a mock-up of the new denture is created so that it can be tested in the mouth of the patient. We schedule an esthetic try-in visit so that the patient can critique and approve the look of the denture prior to its being completely processed. Fabrication of full and partial dentures is a team effort involving the dentist, the technician, and most importantly, the patient.
